Emi Andō

Dancers rarely get the spotlight the way singers or actors do, but the work is relentless: your body is the instrument, and you're tuning it every single day whether anyone's watching or not. She trained at a vocal and dance school in Nagoya from childhood, worked her way through a string of idol groups starting with a local one in her hometown of Toyota, and still finished a degree at Aichi University of Education, which says something real about her drive. I hope she's the kind of performer who makes the air in the room feel different the moment she walks on stage. With a name that literally contains the character for "smile," I'm inclined to think she just might be.
