I'll be honest, Emma Stone is one of those actors I trust completely, and that husky voice and those enormous expressive eyes are a huge part of why. I first clocked her doing sharp comic timing in stuff like Superbad and Easy A, where she made being the smartest, funniest person in the room look effortless, then she just kept leveling up. La La Land won her the first Oscar and made everyone weepy, but Poor Things is the role that floored me, totally fearless, weird, and committed in a way few stars dare to be.
