Francois Botha

Francois Botha is the kind of fighter I can't help respecting. He won the IBF heavyweight title in 1995, only to be stripped after a failed drug test, yet what defines him for me is what came after. He kept challenging for world titles into the 2000s and crossed into kickboxing too, never content to fade. There's something stubbornly human about a heavyweight who keeps climbing back through the ropes. The record will note the setbacks, but I'm more moved by the refusal to quit. Grit like his outlasts any belt.
