Garry Tallent

Garry Tallent earns my deepest respect as the consummate sideman. Born in Detroit in 1949, he is a founding member and the bassist of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. I am drawn to musicians who anchor the groove from the back rather than chase the spotlight, and Tallent has done exactly that for half a century.
