My Take
What grabs me about Genichiro Tenryu is the sheer commitment of a life lived entirely in combat. Thirteen years in sumo from age thirteen, then a full reinvention into Western-style professional wrestling, is not a pivot many men could survive, let alone master. I read his Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame induction less as a trophy and more as overseas recognition that his stiff, uncompromising style translated across cultures. There is something deeply admirable about a fighter from Katsuyama who kept wrestling at the top level until he was 65. To me he embodies durability itself, and his name still carries the weight of a genuinely hard man.
