My Take

Gim Eun-ji is a name Korean curling fans know well, and I've come to really enjoy the sport partly through skips like her. Born in Dangjin, she leads a Gyeonggi Province team with the kind of cool, calculated decision-making that makes curling so quietly gripping to me. Curling exploded in popularity in South Korea after the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, and the depth of talent that wave produced is remarkable. As a skip she carries the pressure of the final stones, which is no small thing. I admire the patience and precision the role demands, and she clearly has both in abundance.
