My Take
H.D. is one of those poets I keep returning to because her restraint is so total it becomes its own kind of intensity. Co-founding Imagism with Ezra Pound in 1911 London, she stripped verse down to hard, sculptural images, and I find that discipline more radical than any flourish. Choosing to publish as bare initials feels like an artistic statement in itself: the work, not the persona. That she also wrote novels and memoirs only deepens my respect. To me she is a quiet architect of modernism, less celebrated than she deserves, and worth rediscovering.
