My Take
Klugman is the kind of actor I trust on sight. He never traded on glamour, yet he won three Emmys, twice in comedy and once as a guest star, which tells you he could be funny and weighty in the same breath. From his start in 12 Angry Men to decades of television, he embodied the working craftsman ideal rather than the celebrity one. I admire performers who hold a scene through presence alone, and Klugman did exactly that for over half a century. He felt less like a star and more like a colleague you would want on any production.
