My Take
Jackson Wang is genuinely one of the most fascinating multi-hyphenates to come out of the K-pop world, and I mean that without a hint of irony. The guy was a nationally ranked competitive fencer in Hong Kong — like, could have gone to the Olympics — and then pivoted to join GOT7 under JYP Entertainment, where he became arguably the group's most globally visible member through sheer force of charisma. What I find compelling is how he's built his own lane since then: founding Team Wang as both a record label and a fashion brand, releasing solo music that leans into hip-hop and R&B, and racking up serious influence across Asia and beyond. Being named Tatler's Most Influential Hong Kong figure in 2024 isn't just PR fluff — it reflects how deliberately he's constructed a cross-industry identity that most artists half his age couldn't dream of.
