My Take
What strikes me about Jeff Loomis is how he became a guitarist's guitarist without ever chasing the spotlight. His years anchoring Nevermore's sound, then sliding into Sweden's Arch Enemy in 2014 and even joining Graham Bonnet's Alcatrazz, tell me he's the kind of player other shredders quietly study. I respect that he left Arch Enemy in 2023 on his own terms and kept a solo catalog going on the side. The technical metal world tends to crown its heroes among insiders rather than charts, and Loomis feels like exactly that: revered by the people who actually pick up the instrument.
