My Take

Jeffrey Jendryk fascinates me because middle blocking is the most thankless art in volleyball, and at 208 cm he has turned it into a craft. Crossing from Loyola Chicago to PAOK Thessaloniki and the U.S. national team takes more than height; it takes the nerve to bet on yourself abroad. I respect American players who choose the European grind over comfort at home, because that is where the game's intensity lives. Reading hitters, timing the block, doing the invisible work that decides sets, this is what wins matches. Jendryk strikes me as a thinker disguised as a giant.
