My Take
I respect Jim McGovern for the kind of political career that rarely gets headlines but quietly matters. Representing Worcester since 1997, he has built his reputation on human rights work that demands persistence over glory, chairing the China commission and co-chairing the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission. What interests me is his consistency: the awards he holds are almost all human-rights honors, which tells you where his energy goes. In an era of performative politics, I value a legislator who keeps showing up for the people with the smallest voices. That kind of stubborn principle earns my genuine admiration.
