Jim Negrych

What grabs me about Negrych is not a flashy stat line but the geography of his career. A Buffalo-born infielder who ended up swinging the bat in Taiwan's CPBL for the Chinatrust Brother Elephants has a story most American baseball fans never hear. Crossing the Pacific to keep playing the game you love, adapting to a new league, language and culture, takes a stubborn devotion I genuinely admire. Journeyman careers like his are the unsung connective tissue of global baseball, and I find that far more interesting than another hometown hero who never left.
