My Take

Joel Olwenyi is exactly why I find international cricket so compelling beyond the usual powerhouses. Born in Kampala in 1980, he captained Uganda and represented his country thirteen times in the ICC Trophy as a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler. Leading a side in a place with less funding and far less spotlight demands a level of passion and local pride that the scorecard never fully captures. I respect anyone who reaches the top of their national game while carrying the hopes of a smaller cricketing nation on their shoulders. That grit deserves more attention than it gets.
