Phill Lewis

Phill Lewis is, to me, the kind of supporting actor who quietly anchors a whole show. Born in Arua, Uganda, and raised American, he made Mr. Moseby on The Suite Life unforgettable, never losing his dignified poise while being run ragged by kids; his comic timing is impeccable. That he also directs television suggests a person who sees the set from above, understanding rhythm and structure as well as performance. His turns on Friends and Scrubs show real range too. I love actors of this craftsman temperament, content to hold a production together rather than dominate it. He elevates everything he touches.
