My Take
Hickey is the kind of actor whose face you recognize long before you recall his name, and I mean that as high praise. He works across television, film, voice and stage without ever seeming to chase the spotlight, and that 2011 Tony for The Normal Heart tells you everything: theater audiences, the toughest crowd there is, trust him. I admire performers who build a career on craft rather than celebrity. There is a quiet, Fordham-trained discipline in his work that keeps showing up scene after scene, and I find that far more interesting than fame.
