My Take

For my money, John Goodman is one of the great American character actors, the rare performer who can anchor a sitcom, voice a beloved animated monster, and turn terrifying on a dime. His physical presence reads as warmth in one film and menace in the next, and that ambiguity is precisely his genius. The Emmy, the Disney Legends honor, the Walk of Fame star all confirm what Vanity Fair already said: he is among our very finest.
