My Take

For me, Katie Lowes is one of those actors whose work I clocked long before I knew her name. Quinn Perkins on Scandal was such a slow-burn arc that I genuinely forgot she started as the wide-eyed newcomer in the office. What I appreciate is that she's a Queens kid who trained at NYU Tisch and then quietly built a career as both performer and theater director, not just a TV face. Her turn as Rachel in Inventing Anna showed me she's happy playing people who are uncomfortable to watch. That willingness to be unlikable on purpose is, I think, the mark of a real character actor.
