Keisuke Katto

Keisuke Katto is one of those relievers whose story is better than his name recognition — a Kindai University ace who later pitched in 65 games for SoftBank in one season without taking a single loss. Born in 1983 in Kami, Kochi, which is deep in Shikoku countryside where rivers run clear and the mountains crowd in close, and you can almost picture a kid out there grinding on his game with nobody watching. He's got the frame for it at 180cm. After the Orix Buffaloes released him in 2014 he kept pitching for an amateur rubber-ball club in Osaka, and in an era where everyone's performing for the algorithm, a guy who just keeps playing feels weirdly refreshing.
