My Take
Born in Kirishima, Kagoshima — that volcanic hot-spring corner of Kyushu that feels a world away from the J-League spotlight — Kento Tachibanada is the kind of player who quietly makes you root for him before you've even seen him play. At 169 cm he's not going to win any aerial duels against a towering center-back, but soccer history is littered with shorter players who ran rings around giants on pure technique and relentless hustle, and something about a guy who grew up in that rugged, unhurried part of southern Japan makes me think he's exactly that type. Kawasaki Frontale made him captain in 2023, just a few seasons after he arrived from university, and that tells you plenty: this is a guy worth watching, and I'll be paying attention.
