My Take
Kerri Green is forever the spirited redhead from The Goonies for me, and that's a wonderful thing to be. But what I find quietly admirable is how she didn't cling to teen stardom. A Vassar-educated talent, she stepped behind the camera to write and direct Bellyfruit, trading the spotlight for the harder, more honest work of making films. There's a grace in that pivot that I respect deeply. Plenty of child actors burn out chasing fame; Green seems to have simply followed her genuine love of the craft, on her own terms, without fuss or fanfare.
