My Take
For me, Conroy simply is Batman. From Batman: The Animated Series in 1992 onward, he did something almost no actor manages: he separated Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight into two distinct voices, both utterly convincing, using nothing but sound. That control came straight from his stage training, and it gave the character a gravity that defined the role for a generation, right through Arkham City. His death in 2022 was a real loss, but I'd argue his performance redefined what voice acting could be. In my book, that low growl will always guard Gotham.
