Kevin McKidd

Kevin McKidd is the kind of actor I deeply value: dependable, intelligent, and allergic to flash. Edinburgh-educated, he built his career brick by brick, from Tommy in Trainspotting to the granite-jawed Lucius Vorenus in Rome to the long-running Dr. Owen Hunt on Grey's Anatomy. That Scottish baritone and unhurried presence make him a director's safe pair of hands, and fittingly he moved into directing television himself. I am drawn to craftsmen rather than celebrities, performers who earn trust over decades on set. McKidd is exactly that, and his quiet longevity says more than any single role could.
