My Take
Kit Connor proved with Heartstopper that a young actor can carry warmth and vulnerability without ever tipping into melodrama. His Nick Nelson is tender and believable, and winning that inaugural Children's and Family Emmy for the role was thoroughly earned. I had clocked him earlier in His Dark Materials, but Heartstopper is where his charisma really landed. What impresses me is how composed he is at his age, both on screen and in handling the intense scrutiny that came with the show's success. He picks projects with intention, and I think his best, more demanding adult roles are still ahead of him.
