Kōsuke Ishii

Kosuke Ishii is the kind of name that doesn't ring a bell unless you actually follow Japanese basketball — which, honestly, is a pretty solid filter for who the real fans are. Born in 1987 in Chiba and went all the way through Tokai University on the strength of hoops alone, which tells you this wasn't a hobby or a backup plan. Basketball is a five-person sport where the quiet, reliable guy often does more work than the highlight reel ever shows, and everything about Ishii's path puts him squarely in that category — the player who makes the right pass, sets the screen nobody notices, and just keeps showing up. From Fujitsu and the Chiba teachers' team to the Chiba Jets, the SunRockers Shibuya and now the SeaHorses Mikawa, there's something genuinely respectable about someone who grinds through a sport that demands that much from you for that long. Sounds about right.
