Kris Wu

Kris Wu is one of the hardest figures to write about honestly. The talent was real: a Chinese-Canadian who broke through with Exo, then conquered mainland film and music almost single-handedly. But his later conviction reframes everything, and I refuse to launder that into a tidy comeback narrative. What interests me is how completely fame can insulate someone, and how quickly that insulation collapses. I hold two things at once here: respect for what the artistry achieved and clear-eyed acknowledgment of the harm done. The glamour of straddling two cultures should never become an excuse to look away from accountability.
