Laura Harring

Laura Harring will always be Rita from Mulholland Drive to me, and that is no small thing. Few actors can hold the screen in a David Lynch film, where ambiguity is the whole point, yet she made amnesiac mystery feel both alluring and quietly devastating. A Miss USA winner from Sinaloa who refused to coast on beauty, with a life that even includes a stint as a countess, she carries an air of intrigue that suits Lynch's universe perfectly. I'm drawn to performers who can suggest depths the script never spells out, and Harring does that effortlessly.
