Laura Stacey

Laura Stacey is the kind of athlete I find easy to root for. From Mississauga to Dartmouth's Big Green and now Montreal Victoire in the PWHL, she climbed every rung the hard way, from the under-18 and under-22 ranks to the senior national team. What impresses me most is the timing: she's helping carry women's hockey into a professional era that finally gives it real visibility, and she does it as a forward who plays on the front foot. Pioneers rarely get full credit in their own moment, but I suspect this generation, and Stacey, will be remembered as the ones who built the foundation.
