My Take

I have a real soft spot for Lee Da-hee because she's one of those performers who sneaks up on you — you catch her in a supporting role and suddenly she's the most compelling person in the scene. Her breakout in I Can Hear Your Voice back in 2013 announced that she had genuine dramatic chops, not just a striking face, and she backed it up with a string of smart choices. Kang Sa-ra in The Beauty Inside was deliciously layered, and she absolutely held her own in Search: WWW (2019) alongside a powerhouse cast. Standing at 176 cm with the presence to match, she commands the screen without seeming to try. It took Korean drama audiences a while to fully appreciate her, but by the late 2010s the consensus was pretty clear: Lee Da-hee is the real deal.
