My Take

Lori Nelson, born Dixie Kay Nelson in Santa Fe, is the kind of mid-century Hollywood name I genuinely enjoy rediscovering. Active mainly through the 1950s and early 60s, she turned up in the TV version of How to Marry a Millionaire and in cult creature features like Revenge of the Creature. That places her right in the golden, slightly pulpy era of American cinema I find irresistible. She passed in 2020 at 87, a long life bridging black-and-white and color filmmaking. Stars from that age carry a particular grace, and I think performers like Nelson deserve to be remembered, not forgotten.
