M. S. Viswanathan

M. S. Viswanathan commands my deep respect. Scoring music for more than 800 films across Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu cinema is a staggering body of work, and the title King of Melody feels entirely earned. What moves me is that he was not only a composer but also a singer and actor, a true backbone of South Indian music. Even though I come from a different culture and language, I am humbled by anyone whose melodies shaped the daily lives of millions. His passing in 2015 closed a chapter, but I suspect his tunes still hum quietly in countless homes.
