My Take
Markelle Fultz is one of the most fascinating what-ifs in recent NBA history. Going first overall to the 76ers in 2017 out of Washington — where he was genuinely electric as a one-and-done — felt like the start of something special. Then the shoulder injury happened, the shooting yips followed, and suddenly the consensus best prospect in his class became a cautionary tale about how quickly things can unravel. What I respect, though, is that he never disappeared. He rebuilt his game in Orlando, found his footing as a solid starting point guard, and was putting together real momentum before a torn ACL in 2021 set him back again. The resilience is real. He's still only in his mid-twenties, and watching him grind through the G League with Raptors 905 shows a guy who clearly hasn't made peace with being a footnote. I'm still rooting for the full comeback.
