Marsha Garces Williams

Marsha Garces Williams interests me precisely because she worked the side of the industry that rarely gets celebrated. A producer and philanthropist with a Golden Globe to her name, she shaped films from the trenches rather than the red carpet. I am wary of reducing her to her famous marriage; the more compelling story is a Milwaukee woman who built creative and charitable influence on her own terms. There is a quiet authority in people who choose the producing chair over the spotlight, and I respect that she seems to have used her position to fund causes rather than burnish a personal brand.
