Masahiro Shinoda

Masahiro Shinoda died in March 2025 at the age of ninety-four. Born in Gifu in 1931 and educated at Waseda, he joined Shochiku and became one of the central figures of the Japanese New Wave, the movement that pulled postwar Japanese cinema away from studio convention.
