Masayuki Suzuki

Masayuki Suzuki is a drummer from Sapporo, Hokkaido — and honestly, there's something quietly compelling about that image: a guy forging his rhythm in one of Japan's snowiest cities, far from the Tokyo spotlight. Born in 1972, he's squarely in that generation of musicians who came up before the internet age flattened everything, so whatever he built, he built through sheer repetition and craft. He got hooked on music as a sick kid in a hospital bed when someone played him Loudness, and he ended up as that very band's drummer, replacing Munetaka Higuchi. Drummers rarely get the glory — they sit in the back, no microphone, no front-row pose — but they're the reason a song breathes or doesn't. I respect that kind of quiet dedication more than I can articulate.
