My Take
Michael Rispoli is the kind of character actor I genuinely treasure. Nearly cast as Tony Soprano before landing Jackie Aprile, he is the textbook example of a performer who turns a near-miss into a career of indelible supporting work. That refusal to sulk over a lost lead, choosing instead to win on sheer presence, earns my deep respect. A New York native at home on stage, television, and film, he brings a warmth and density that anchors every scene. Reuniting with Gandolfini in The Taking of Pelham 123 felt fitting. Films are better when the supporting cast is this sharp, and Rispoli proves it repeatedly.
