Mick Foley is, to me, one of wrestling's most fascinating contradictions, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Here's a man who built his legend on absorbing punishment, throwing his 6-foot-2 body off cages as Mankind and Cactus Jack, yet who also writes children's books and bestselling memoirs. That duality is what I admire most: the people who endure the most physical sacrifice often write with the most warmth. His induction into the WWE and Observer Halls of Fame is well earned, but what really earns my respect is the gentleness behind the brutality.
