My Take
Miguel Cotto earns my deep respect as a craftsman of a fighter. Out of Caguas, Puerto Rico, he became the first Puerto Rican to win world titles across four weight classes, climbing from light welterweight all the way to middleweight against bigger men. I admire fighters who win on will rather than flash, and Cotto was exactly that, quiet, relentless, professional. His 2014 Comeback of the Year award proves he could fall and rise again, and his 2022 Hall of Fame induction sealed his place in history. He never seemed to chase spectacle, only excellence, and that restraint is what makes him great.
