Millicent Simmonds

What strikes me most about Millicent Simmonds is how she turned silence into power. As a deaf actress, she made A Quiet Place feel almost personal, performing an entire world where sound means death through sign, breath, and expression alone. Breaking out in Wonderstruck while still a teenager, this Utah native carries a presence well beyond her years. I find her career genuinely important, not just for the awards but for what she represents: proof that authentic representation makes the art better, not just fairer. She feels like someone quietly reshaping what Hollywood thinks a leading performer can be.
