My Take

Misha Collins is one of those rare actors who stumbled into a role that became a genuine cultural phenomenon — Castiel the trench-coat-wearing angel on Supernatural — and somehow managed to make an earnest, fish-out-of-water celestial being one of the most beloved characters in TV fandom history. I find it genuinely impressive that a Boston kid who went to the University of Chicago and identifies as a poet ended up winning People's Choice Awards for "Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor," because that trajectory makes absolutely no sense on paper and yet feels completely right. He's also one of the more openly playful celebrities on social media, never taking himself too seriously despite the intense devotion of the Supernatural fan base, and that self-awareness is refreshing.
