My Take

Nathan Chen is, to me, the rare athlete who out-works genius. Olympic champion in 2022 and a three-time World champion, he stacked quad jumps with a precision that bordered on the mechanical, yet he did it while attending Yale, which still astonishes me. What earns my deepest respect is the comeback: after an early collapse on the biggest stage, he rebuilt himself into someone almost unbeatable. And his artistry deepened year by year, so he was never just a technician. Chen represents a particular ideal, that relentless, intelligent effort can overwrite raw talent. He is one of figure skating's most complete competitors.
