My Take
Few artists have earned my respect the way Nick Cave has. He has spent four decades staring directly at the things most songwriters politely avoid — death, God, grief, violence — and somehow turned them into music that consoles rather than crushes. That baritone feels less like singing and more like testimony. What fascinates me is his refusal to stay in one lane: novels, scores, and prose all carry the same obsessive intensity. From a small Victorian town to global reverence, he proves that darkness honestly explored becomes a kind of light. He is the rare rock figure who grew wiser, stranger, and better with age.
