My Take
Daniel Lopatin, working as Oneohtrix Point Never, is one of the most genuinely inventive minds in contemporary electronic music. He didn't just join a scene, he helped birth one: Chuck Person's Eccojams Vol. 1 is a foundational vaporwave document, and Rifts reframed what synth-based composition could feel like. What I love is his refusal to flatter the listener. His music is uncanny, nostalgic and anxious at once, beautiful precisely because it's unsettling. His film scoring work shows the same restless intelligence. OPN is that rare experimentalist who never dilutes his vision yet still manages to move people, and I find that thrilling.
