Pebbles

Pebbles is a name that instantly transports me to the late-1980s and early-1990s R&B and new jack swing era. Songs like Girlfriend and Mercedes Boy had that crisp, danceable confidence that defined the sound of the time, and I still find them irresistibly catchy. What fascinates me beyond the hits is how multidimensional her path became: singer, songwriter, businesswoman, record producer, and eventually pastor. That arc from chart star to executive to ministry is not a typical pop trajectory, and I respect the reinvention. The Oakland-born artist clearly understood the business side of music as much as the performing, and that ambition stands out to me.
