My Take
I find Pihla Viitala intriguing precisely because she refuses to stay in one lane. Trained at the Helsinki Theatre Academy, she works as an actor but also as a make-up artist, singer and film director. That combination is telling: she understands performance from in front of the camera, from the make-up chair, and from behind the lens. Performers who grasp all three angles usually bring an unusual self-awareness to a role. I imagine a quietly commanding, distinctly Nordic screen presence, the kind that lingers after the scene ends. She feels like an artist whose depth rewards a closer look.
