My Take
Román "Chocolatito" González is one of my favorite fighters to make the case for the lower weight classes. A four-division world champion out of Nicaragua, he surpassed his own idol Alexis Argüello, which says everything about how far he reached. I love his relentless, pressure-forward style, all volume and footwork packed into a 160 cm frame. And when he stumbled, he answered with a 2020 Comeback of the Year. To me he embodies the idea that heart, not size, wins titles. The smaller divisions are where boxing's craft lives, and he sat at the very top of it.
