My Take
Samuel Eto'o is, to my mind, the most complete African striker the game has produced. Leaving Douala for Real Madrid at sixteen takes audacity; turning that gamble into African Footballer of the Year honors, a Pichichi Trophy, and a place among the all-time great forwards takes something rarer. What I admired most on the pitch was his economy, with runs timed to the half-second and finishes without decoration. What I admire now is his second act leading Cameroon's football federation, a thankless job he did not need to take. Legends who reinvest in the system that raised them earn a different tier of respect from me.

He is often regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time and one of the greatest African players of all time. A precocious talent, Eto'o moved to Real Madrid as a 16 year old.
