My Take
Among the Kapoor dynasty, Shashi has always struck me as the most quietly graceful, a matinee idol who never let his good looks excuse the work. Four National Film Awards is not a face-card career, it is a serious one. What I admire most is his role as a bridge, the Indo-British collaborations that showed an outward-looking confidence rare for his era. The Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award feel less like prizes than like footnotes to a life that is itself a chapter of Hindi cinema. I find his unhurried charm endlessly rewatchable.
