Shogo Asano

Shogo Asano was born in November 2004, which makes him younger than some of the merchandise on sale at Tokyo Dome. He came out of Takamatsu in Kagawa and went straight from high school to being the Yomiuri Giants' first-round draft pick, an outfielder handed one of the heaviest uniforms in Japanese sport while still a teenager. He homered as a high-school rookie in 2023, the club's first from a high-school rookie since Kazuma Okamoto, settled into right field in the summer of 2024, and slumped badly enough in 2025 to be sent down to the third team. That is what an early career actually looks like. I like reading pages where the story has not happened yet. Check back in a few years and I suspect we will need more room.
