My Take
Sophie Thatcher is one of those rare young actors who makes you sit up and pay attention from her very first scene. Born in Chicago in 2000, she started doing local stage work as a kid before landing the sci-fi indie film Prospect in 2018, and even then you could see she had something — a quiet intensity that felt way older than her years. Then Yellowjackets happened, and the whole world caught on. Playing teenage Natalie in that Showtime series, she brought a bruised, soulful quality to a character who could have easily been a stock troubled-girl type, and she made her completely her own. She also held her own in The Book of Boba Fett and The Boogeyman, which says a lot about her range. I genuinely believe we're watching someone in the early chapters of a long, interesting career, and that feeling of catching a great actor before they fully blow up is one of the best things about following film and TV closely.
